This was my first bigger project in school. Girls from year above us were leading this project and assigned us different kind of moods. I was assigned to work with melancholia.  In the beggining I struggled with what melancholic feelings actually are...yes I googled it but all the descriptions felt so clinical! so I drew inspiration from source that I understood to such as books and anime! I was really into Japanese culture, music and fashion for years so I choose none other than Haruki Murakami's Norwegian wood, The Little Prince and anime Jigoku Shoujo to get an "hang" for this emotion.  Inspired with those, I decided to work with soft fabrics and simpler lines. I did not want it to attract attention with bold shapes but for it to be more floaty yet kinda dragging and technically thought out. Final design was affected with my interest in japanese clothing style, from whitch I borrowed shape base for trousers and motiv for tying long kimono sleeves. Thou it sounds inpractical, it gives possibility to move around.
